Q. Sir, what is the right patient profile for undergoing  Bariatric Surgery?

Bariatric Surgery is for people who are obese or morbidly obese & it is not for those who are over-weight. To be more objective I would like to say you need to know your BMI if you want to see whether you are candidates for a Bariatric surgery or not. You should know your weight in terms of kilograms and height in terms of centimeter & you can calculate your BMI from any of the application or online websites. Even our website is having the calculator and you can just try & check out their BMI. So obesity surgery is advised to those people whose BMI is more than 37.5 and if you are having medical problems related to obesity like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol or knee problems, back problems than Bariatric surgery is advised even if your BMI is 32.5 or above. And if you are having a very much uncontrol diabetes even with insulin than this surgery is also advised even if your BMI is just 27.5. The last thing which I said Surgery specifically to treat your diabetes with your BMI of 27.5 is more classified into a metabolic surgery but essentially it is same as bariatric surgery with minor modifications.
