After completing MBBS from Rajiv Gandh Medical College in Mumbai, he became a part of several renowned institutes like Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College & General Hospital, Sion (a.k.a Sion Hospital, Mumbai); Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai; Retina Speciality Hospital, Indore. Moreover, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, All India Ophthalmological Society, Delhi Ophthalmological Society.

Today, Amit Palkar is a medical and surgical eye doctor subspecialized in Retinal and Uveal diseases. He treats any type of retinal disorder viz.
